Reviewing the Revolution Beauty X Totally Soph Kit

Hi guys! Today I'm going to be reviewing the Totally Soph Kit from Revolution Beauty. It was released before Christmas and to be honest I haven't heard much about this kit even though I thought it would be very popular. It comes with a contour, highlight and blush palette, 3 lip glosses and an eyeshadow palette. It is currently on sale on the Revolution Beauty website for €18.60. My favourite item in this kit has to be the contour, highlight and blush palette. The palette has great pigmentation and the shades are suitable for my for skin tone. It's very handy for travelling with too. The lipglosses are based on the colours from Soph's original lipstick with Revolution Beauty and have nice pigmentation. The eyeshadow palette is probably my least favourite in this kit. The quality of this palette is not like Soph's other two palette collaborations which is what I expected from her kit. Honestly this seems to be more like the quality of the Revolution Beauty's Reloaded palettes that are cheaper to purchase than the collab palettes. However it does have a nice colour story and packaging, I'm just a bit disappointed with the quality. Overall I'm going to rate this kit a 7/10. You do get a lot for the price and I was very impressed by the face palette.

Upcycling my bedside locker

Hi! Today I wanted to show you a piece of furniture I recently upcycled. I have this bedside locker for a few years. However the top of it have been damaged by nail varnish and it has some wear and tear marks. I decided to paint it one of my favourite colours from Dulux which is Mid Shadow. I picked up everything I needed from Bandon Co-Op Retail and Garden Centre. I will link what I bought down below.  I started by cleaning the locker with a damp cloth and then waited for it to dry. I removed the drawer knobs. Then I lightly sanded down the surfaces with some sanding paper. This creates a key for the paint to adhere to when you are applying it. I started applying my satinwood to the locker. I decided to purchase the water based satinwood as it drys quickly and is more environmentally friendly. It took about 4 coats however you can buy an undercoat too to reduce the amount of coats you need to apply.  For the drawer knobs I decided the keep them and spray paint...

Testing make up brushes from Lidl?!

Hi guys! Today I'm going to be reviewing the Miomare professional cosmetic brush set from Lidl. I was in Lidl last week and saw these. They were only €5 and I thought they would make an interesting blog post. This is an eight piece set that includes a powder brush, a blush brush, an eye shadow brush, a mascara wand, a lip brush, an eyeliner brush, an eye shadow applicator and  a brush roll . All the brushes are 100% synthetic. There were a few different colours of the brush rolls but I just got the black faux leather one. I was testing these brushes out over the weekend and I have some mixed feeling about them. My favourite brushes in this set are the powder and the blush blushes. I also really like the mascara wand. However I didn't enjoy the rest of the brushes. The eyeshadow brush did not apply product on my eyelid very well. The eyeshadow applicator, eyeliner and lip brushes weren't very useful for me. I don't usually use these tools when applying my make up anyway ...

SOSU Contour Stick

Hi guys! Today I’m going to be reviewing the SoSu contour stick. I’m aware this product has been around for a while now but I have always avoided cream contour products for two reasons. The first being that I don’t want the product to slide around my face and also powder products are easier to use. Secondly, any cream contour products I have come across for reasonable money have been too dark for my skin tone. I purchased the contour stick in the shade ‘Cool’ from my local pharmacy that stocks SoSu products. On application I swiped the contour stick directly onto my face where I would normally apply contour powder and then I used a beauty sponge to blend it out. The stick is very pigmented and it only takes one swipe to apply. It’s very smooth on the skin and the product is easy to build up if you want a more prominent contour. The component feels good quality and the product is cruelty-free, paraben-free and vegan. Overall I think this is a great product. The stick is ea...
