Hi! Today I wanted to show you a piece of furniture I recently upcycled. I have this bedside locker for a few years. However the top of it have been damaged by nail varnish and it has some wear and tear marks. I decided to paint it one of my favourite colours from Dulux which is Mid Shadow. I picked up everything I needed from Bandon Co-Op Retail and Garden Centre. I will link what I bought down below. I started by cleaning the locker with a damp cloth and then waited for it to dry. I removed the drawer knobs. Then I lightly sanded down the surfaces with some sanding paper. This creates a key for the paint to adhere to when you are applying it. I started applying my satinwood to the locker. I decided to purchase the water based satinwood as it drys quickly and is more environmentally friendly. Trends are always hit and miss in my opinion and can be hard to pull off. These are just the ones I am interested in this year. 1. Dad Sandals Chanel made dad sandals so popular last year and this year will be no different. Now I always believe that there is no point in investing in a luxury trend unless you are sure that these are items you will get your money's worth out of. Hi and happy Sunday! I recently picked up the 'Vieve Modern Matte Lipstick' in the shade Comin' in Haute and I wanted to share my thoughts. I really found it difficult to decide which colour to purchase but I decided to go with this shade first. There are five other nude shades available in this range. I think the packaging of this product is incredible and it looks a lot more expensive than it is. Also it has a magnetic closure on the lid and I think that adds even more to the product. Besides from the packaging this lipstick is in a matte finish and lasts a long time. It feels comfortable on the lipstick and isn't drying. Jamie Genevieve did a wonderful job. I realise I am late to discovering this shampoo but nevertheless it deserves a review. I picked up the Moo Goo shampoo in my local chemist last week after a friend recommended it to me. I must admit I have been obsessed every since. I have dry hair and over the years I feel like I have tried every shampoo on the market for dry hair. It wasn't until I discovered the Garnier Ultimate Blends shampoo did my hair improve at all however sometimes even that doesn't work for my hair. It can be frustrating as using hair masks can make my hair go greasy faster and my scalp would still be dry. Since I started using the Moo Goo shampoo my hair looks more hydrated and there is no dryness on my scalp. This shampoo is a little more expensive than your average bottle of shampoo however I believe it is worth every penny. This shampoo is excellent and also leaves a lovely shine. As we are all once again in lockdown I have been thinking of autumnal projects to tackle. As many people are deciding to paint everything in their house at the moment I wanted to do something more seasonal. I decided to chance making my own wreath. For this wreath I used hydrangea flowers but you can use any flowers you like. I purchased a straw wreath base from my local co-op. F For your wreath you will need the following: Wreath base Flowers Elastic bands Scissors Flexible wreath wire Start by measuring out what size flowers and how many flowers you will need to cover the base of your wreath. Then take a flower and place the elastic band through the steam. Wrap the steam around the width of the straw base and pull the elastic band through the stem on the opposite side. Then secure in place with the flexible wire. This is just the way I put my flowers on however there are various ways to secure the flowers in place. Repeat this process all the way around until your wreath is full...
During these times many of us get bored and are looking for something to do at home. I suggest Upcycling. I recently took an old piece of furniture I have had for years and decided to improve it. This chest of drawers was not an expensive piece of furniture so I wasn't worried if it didn't work out. However I am happy with the result. I decided to paint the chest of drawers in Dulux Mid Shadow in a water based satinwood finish. If you are looking to use this colour and formula please know that you will have to get it mixed up in a shop that sells Dulux paint. I am a big fan of a satinwood finish and the water based formula makes it easier to clean up afterwards as well as being a more environmentally friendly formula. Hi guys! I am excited to be reviewing one of the palettes from the Roxi X Revolution collaboration. This collaboration is long awaited and I think Roxi did a great job creating these palettes. The collection contains two eyeshadow palettes and one contour palette. However, I will only be reviewing the ‘Ride or die’ eyeshadow palette as this is the palette that appealed to me most from the collaboration. Firstly, I must comment on the packaging I am a big fan of the Revolution collaboration packaging. I think the palettes are slim, travel friendly and they have a large mirror which is so handy. The colour choice for Roxi’s palettes are very fitting and the packaging is sleek and true to her personality. I also think the shade names are very cute. Hello! I recently discovered this amazing boutique vintage shop while shopping in Killarney and I wanted to share this little gem with you. I accidentally came across this shop while shopping in Killarney town at the weekend. It is located upstairs on 1 Glebe Lane. The little shop oozes a vintage atmosphere with a range of vintage pieces to choose from. The shop contains a selection of vintage clothing, shoes, jewellery, accessories and vinyl’s. I purchased some vintage black jeans with embroidered love hearts down the leg for €19 which I believe was a fantastic price. I also picked up some rings for €3 each. This shop contains some funky pieces and I would definitely recommend checking it out if you’re in the area. Hi guys! Today I’m going to be reviewing the Bloomtown sugar scrub in ‘The Spring blue clay and indigo leaf’. I got mine in the 68g which is the mini size and you can also buy a larger pot in 285g’s. I am a massive fan of this brand as their products are palm oil free! Bloomtown are an amazing company that are ethical, vegan and cruelty free. According to the website this product is, “ vegan, all natural, cruelty-free, no palm oil” and contains “no sulphates, no parabens, no PEGs, no petrochemicals, no phthalates, no TEA/MEA/DEA, no synthetic colours, no fragrance, no SLS”. It doesn’t contain any plastic microbeads and the scrub is made from scratch. This scrub is also unscented so it is ideal for someone who has sensitive skin. I have sensitive skin and I have found that it is very gentle on my skin while still exfoliating, removing dead skin and clearing out my pores. It also leaves my skin feeling moisturised. Hi guys! Today I’m going to be reviewing the SoSu contour stick. I’m aware this product has been around for a while now but I have always avoided cream contour products for two reasons. The first being that I don’t want the product to slide around my face and also powder products are easier to use. Secondly, any cream contour products I have come across for reasonable money have been too dark for my skin tone. I purchased the contour stick in the shade ‘Cool’ from my local pharmacy that stocks SoSu products. On application I swiped the contour stick directly onto my face where I would normally apply contour powder and then I used a beauty sponge to blend it out. The stick is very pigmented and it only takes one swipe to apply. It’s very smooth on the skin and the product is easy to build up if you want a more prominent contour. Recently I have come across this technique of dry brushing. I never tried it before so I thought it might be an interesting blog post. I ordered this brush off the Look Fantastic website. I love this website for beauty products and the best part is that it has free shipping. As discussed in my previous post everybody needs to reduce the amount of palm oil products we use. There are many palm oil free beauty brands that offer a palm oil free alternative product. There is however also a way that brands can become more responsible and still use palm oil if brands become certified in Sustainable Palm Oil production. This is the way forward according to WWF. We can have a big impact if we start using these palm oil free brands and eventually more brands will either become certified in sustainable palm oil or completely palm oil free. Be sure to keep an eye out for the Orangutan Alliance palm oil free certification when purchasing! Palm oil production is a huge issue that is having a harmful effect on our environment. It can be found in many of our beauty products like shampoo, soap, body creams and lipstick and much more. I wanted to bring some more awareness so people can make a conscious effort to reduce purchasing products with palm oil and start buying more palm oil free items. Recently Revlon have launched the Revlon Candid PhotoReady Natural Finish Anti-Pollution Foundation. I purchased it in my local Boots and I was intrigued to try an anti-pollution foundation. This foundation is free from, “ oils, phthalates, synthetic dyes or fragrances” according to Revlon and it also claims to have anti blue light ingredients. This is great for people with sensitive skin as often this lead to skin irritation. This foundation comes in 31 shades. It has a satin finish. I think the shade range is fairly good for a drug store brand however in my local Boots store I found the shade range very limited. I apply mine with a beauty blender but perhaps a brush application would be better and the sponge absorbs a lot of the product. It goes on like a moisturiser and blends into the skin seamlessly.
